(PatrioticPost.com)- Former president Donald Trump is aiming his sites toward the drug cartels “pumping death all over America.”
In a video posted on Thursday, Trump declared: “The drug traffickers are waging war on America — and it’s now time for America to wage war on the cartels.”
Trump, who is running for president and is seeking the Republican nomination, tweeted his strong message on both his Truth Social and Trump War Room accounts.
According to NPR, fentanyl was the cause of a significant portion of the 110,236 drug overdose deaths in the United States last year, leading to Trump’s remarks.
One of the primary sources of fentanyl for the American drug market has been identified as Mexican drug cartels.
The Washington Post published a report last month identifying fentanyl as the leading killer of Americans between 18 and 49. According to the data, fatal overdoses increased by 94% between 2019 and 2021, resulting in an average of 196 Americans dying from the substance per day.
“I’ll show no mercy on the cartels,” Trump promised.
He vowed to enforce a complete naval blockade on the cartels. “I will deploy all necessary military assets, including the U.S. Navy,” Trump said.
Trump said he’ll ensure that no illegal narcotics are brought into our nation through the Western Hemisphere’s waterways. In addition, he’ll direct the Department of Defense to employ special operations forces, cyber warfare, and other overt and covert measures as necessary to “deal the maximum amount of harm to cartel leadership, infrastructure, and operations.”
“I’ll declare the main cartels to be international terrorist groups. Their access to the world’s financial systems will be cut off,” Trump vowed.
Trump stated that while he would prefer to collaborate with other countries. But, if they object, “We will reveal every bribe, kickback, payoff, and every bit of corruption that is allowing the cartels to preserve their terrible reign.”
According to Trump, the blood of many millions is on the hands of the drug cartels “and their collaborators in the Biden administration.”
