From a Broken Leg to the President’s Lawn?
McGregor’s eagerness to participate comes as he is still working to return to the octagon. He has not competed since suffering a horrific leg break during his fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021. A highly anticipated comeback fight against Michael Chandler was recently canceled after McGregor suffered a new, undisclosed injury.

“July 4th next year is a Saturday,” he wrote, looking ahead to the 2026 event. “I will be reigning President of Ireland for just under 1 year when I step out on the lawns of the White House to throw down. Epic proportions! Or as I like to call it, Tuesday at the office. Vote McGregor.”

The proposed event is part of President Trump’s plan for a nationwide celebration of America’s 250th birthday. As reported by CBS Sports, Trump envisions a full championship fight card held in a temporary 25,000-seat venue on the White House grounds.
