Jim Carrey’s “Secret Sanctuary” Revealed

(PatrioticPost.com)- Comedian Jim Carrey is selling his “secret sanctuary” home in Los Angeles for $28.9 million. The mansion has been his home for more than 30 years and its sale is likely to be part of the changes Carrey said he is making to his life. The 61-year-old actor has decided to retire from the profession, saying he has “done enough” in his more than 30-year Hollywood career.

The house, located in the Brentwood area of LA, was purchased for $3.8 million in 1994 and covers 12,704 square feet. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Carrey said of his home, “Every night the owls sang me lullabies and every morning I sipped my cup of joe with the hawks and hummingbirds, under a giant grandfather pine.”

The Golden Globe winner’s mansion is situated on two acres of land and comes with a courtyard and swimming pool, as well as 280 feet of hedging to maintain privacy. It also contains a private movie theater.

Carrey has had a long and successful career. His films include The Truman Show, Dumb and Dumber, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He came to prominence with early comedies The Mask and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. He announced that he was retiring from acting in April last year. He said he would finish his role in the film Sonic the Hedgehog 2 but bring his career to an end after that.

Carrey has stated that he enjoys the spiritual aspect of his life and wants to spend more time painting. He has taken long breaks from acting in the past and did concede there is a possibility he could return if he were tempted by a specific role. “If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break,” he said.
