Vox Writer Asks Liberal Justices To Retire, Attacks RBG’s “Arrogance”

(PatrioticPost.com)- Vox writer Ian Millhiser was deeply critical in his latest piece, attacking the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s “arrogance” and suggesting that two liberal justices should retire. Millhiser called on Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor to retire while the Senate is still in the Democrats’ control, according to The Daily Wire.

“Sotomayor and Kagan need to think about retiring,” the headline read, with the sub-headline saying that the reason is that the Senate is a “fundamentally broken institution” that Democrats must plan around.

Millhiser wrote that Ginsburg was arrogant in her later years because she did not retire when President Barack Obama was in office and had control of the Senate. He said that he is worried the Senate will flip back to Republicans in two years, citing a “brutal” Senate 2024 projection map, adding that it could be a long time before the Supreme Court tilts back in the left’s favor.

He then argued that the Senate was broken because it is “malapportioned,” giving more representation to Republicans through the small states. According to his math, the faults of the U.S. Constitution will mean that Democrats will not likely gain control of Congress until 2030 or later.

He stressed the importance of Sotomayor and Kagan retiring within the next to years, otherwise, the country is doomed “to live under a 7–2 or even an 8–1 Court controlled by an increasingly radicalized Republican Party’s appointees.”

Slate’s Mark Joseph Stern reportedly agreed with Millhiser, saying that Sotomayor and Kagan are good justices, but that Democrats might not win the White House in 2025. Many Democrats agreed and mentioned Ginsburg’s deteriorating health when she was still serving on the bench.

Ginsburg also commented on similar arguments for her retirement, saying that she will not be pressured by public opinion.

“So, tell me who the president could have nominated this spring that you would rather see on the court than me?” she reportedly said.
