U.S. Governor Vows To Veto Transgender Law

(PatrioticPost.com)- Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox said on Friday that he will veto legislation designed to ban transgender student athletes from competing in girls’ sports. The legislation would have provided valuable protections for female students who are being treated unfairly in games all over the country, as biological males are increasingly present in their competitions.

The Associated Press reported that the last-minute bill passed in the House and Senate last Friday, but the so-called Republican governor doesn’t want it to go into effect.

State senator David Hinkins, a Republican representing Orangeville, said that “even in the equine industry, they don’t run fillies against colts.”

Governor Cox said that he would veto the legislation the moment it hits his desk, saying that he stands with the “transgender community.”

“Anyone that’s interacted with the transgender community understands how amazing they are and how difficult it can be for them,” the governor said in a statement to the Salt Lake Tribune.

He added that he doesn’t want to “make things harder for them than they have to be.”

He had nothing to say, however, about the biological female students who may lose competitions – despite practicing for hours every week, often for years on end – because biological males are allowed to compete against them.

“I just want them to know that it’s gonna be okay, we’re gonna work through this,” he said.

Who wants to bet that Cox won’t be the Republican candidate next time he’s up for election?
