Tourist Found Dead a Week After He Went Missing in Majorca

After mountain rescue police in Spain were called upon to assist in the search for a missing British man, a body thought to be his was discovered a week later.

Steven Michael B. was reported missing on July 11 following an argument with his wife in the northern Spain town of Las Salas.

It was revealed today that the local church bell tower was the site of the body’s discovery.

According to Manuel Valbuena, mayor of the Cremenes municipality—of which Las Salas is a part—who spoke with local press, the body had not yet been formally identified, but all signs pointed to the missing Brit being the one.

It has been said that a concerned neighbor sounded the alarm upon discovering the terrible stench emanating from the church tower.

At this point, nothing suggests that this is being investigated as a crime. Once the autopsy is complete, the police will likely announce that they are no longer seeking anybody else in relation to Steven’s death.

After Steven allegedly abandoned his car, left his wife in a garage, and discarded personal possessions after an altercation, authorities expressed concern for his safety.

Along with drones, a helicopter, and a cadaver sniffing dog, the Civil Guard’s Greim unit mobilized mountain experts. This is the same squad who looked for missing Jay Slater near the Tenerife hamlet of Masca after he went missing on June 17 and was discovered dead 29 days later.

A deceased British hiker was discovered in the Spanish Pyrenees last month.

Since his disappearance on June 24, the 70-year-old Londoner has been the target of searches by police and other emergency agencies.

His body was discovered near the Aspe Peak on the western side of the Aragon Valley, a peak in the west of the Pyrenees of Huesca, on June 27.

The Candanchu ski resort in Spain and the Somport pass near the French border are both overlooked by the 8,678-foot summit.

The three Greim cops who discovered the body of the hiker alerted a nearby police helicopter, which escorted the body to a nearby mountain refuge and then delivered it to the funeral home. The hiker was not identified.

It is believed that the deceased was traversing the area between the mountain refuges of Candanchu and Lizara.
