The U.K. Deploys Anti-Air Missile System

(PatrioticPost.com)- Last week, the Associated Press reported that the UK’s defense secretary had announced that Britain would be sending a missile defense system to NATO ally Poland in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

While visiting Warsaw last week, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the UK’s Sky Sabre medium-range anti-air missile system would be deployed to Poland along with about one hundred personnel. Wallace explained that the UK stands alongside its NATO ally “in protecting her airspace from any further aggression from Russia.”

Just days earlier, Russian missiles struck a Ukrainian military base just a few miles from the border with Poland in Yavoriv.

Wallace told reporters that Poland is carrying most of the burden of the consequences from Russia’s war in Ukraine and it was right for the UK to stand by its NATO ally.

According to recent reports over two million Ukrainian refugees have fled to Poland since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began nearly one month ago.

President Joe Biden is expected to travel to Europe later this week to meet with NATO and European allies.

Biden will head to Brussels to meet with G7 and EU leaders, then will fly to Warsaw on Friday where he is scheduled to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Saturday to discuss how the US and its allies are responding to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The White House reports that the president has no plans to travel to Ukraine.
