Swing Voters Decide They Want Biden To Sit Out 2024

(PatrioticPost.com)- A recent focus group in Michigan showed that swing voters in the state who backed President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election now want a different Democrat to step up and challenge him in the 2024 primary.

According to Axios, those who participated in the focus groups, held by Engagious/Schlesinger, said they were worried about Biden’s fitness to serve another term in the White House as well as his overall “mental acuity.”

The focus groups were held online, and featured 13 voters from Michigan who first voted for former President Donald Trump in 2016 but then switched parties and voted for Biden during the 2020 presidential election.

Of those 13 voters, seven are registered Democrats, four are registered independents and two are registered Republicans. Axios admits that focus groups don’t hold the same weight as major polls – since they don’t involve nearly as many people – they do shed some light into how certain groups of voters might be thinking heading into critical times of the political calendar.

Of the 13 people who participated in the focus groups, eight of them said they would ultimately abandon the president in favor of “a generic, not-at-all controversial, middle-aged white male Republican governor who has mainstream conservative views,” which is a topic that was posed by one of the moderators.

The findings from this focus group actually match up pretty well with national sentiment.

A recent poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that only 37% of registered Democrats actually want the president to run for re-election in 2024. While Biden hasn’t officially announced his intentions yet, it’s widely expected that he will ultimately throw his hat into the ring.

Voters seem worried about Biden’s age – he is 80 – but aren’t too concerned about Trump’s age – he is 76. That was the sentiment that came out of the focus group in Michigan, as the participants said Trump’s age didn’t influence how they think of him at all.

One of the participants in the focus group, Valerie C., commented that:

“[Biden] looks extremely frail to me, and I swear every time I see him, he looks older … [but] Trump looks exactly the same. It doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere for 30 years. Biden, I worry that he might be gone next week or something, so that’s kind of scary to see.”

Another participant in the focus groups, Jill O., said of Biden:

“From the way I’ve seen him think and sort of be out of it when he’s in public, he doesn’t seem fit to be holding such a high position in office.”

It’s unlikely that these focus groups are going to influence Biden one way or the other, but many Democratic leaders have been secretly concerned about their chances in the upcoming election due to the situation they’re in.

While they would seemingly love to have a viable alternative to Biden, there simply isn’t another candidate right now that a majority of people think could seriously challenge Trump – or any other major GOP candidate.
