Student Dead In Russia As Russia Scrambles To Take Control Of Situation

(PatrioticPost.com)- On Saturday, Russian news outlets reported how the body of a young American student had been found. The 34-year-old student, Catherine Serou, went missing for several days and was eventually found dead in a wooded region near Bor, a city around 250 miles to the east of Moscow.

Russian news outlets reported that the American student went missing on Tuesday last week. She was last seen getting into her car. She had texted her mother, Mississippi resident Beccy Serou, saying that she had got into a car with a stranger.

“I hope I’m not being abducted,” she said in the text.

The Russian Investigative Committee announced in a statement that the body was discovered, and a suspect was arrested. The man who is understood to have taken the American woman has a history of committing other crimes.

The cause of Serou’s death wasn’t specified by officials, nor were any names given.

Serou moved to Russia in 2019 from California. She was studying at a Nizhny Novgorod university where she was studying law.

Her mother told NPR recently that her daughter was rushing to attend a clinic appointment and believes that she may have gotten into a stranger’s car in the hope of getting there on time. She said that her daughter may have realized during the journey that the car wasn’t driving the clinic but was driving towards a forest instead, leading her to panic and text her that she hoped she wasn’t being abducted.

Sadly, it looks as though that’s precisely what happened.
