(PatrioticPost.com)- Stephen Colbert, the super left-wing TV “comedian” and late night show host, shockingly admitted that the United States is not a democracy – something Republicans have been trying to educate Democrats about for years, and something they have long refused to accept.
But it’s true.
Talking about the possibility of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, a long-set legal precedent that stops states from making abortion illegal, Colbert ranted and raved over the fact that the Supreme Court is now populated mostly by constitutionalists.
As if that’s a bad thing?
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health challenges a Mississippi law that bans abortions from being performed after 15 weeks of pregnancy, and when it reaches the Supreme Court, many have speculated that the 6-3 conservative majority will overturn the law.
On Thursday, Colbert said that the sponsors of the bill have already admitted that they are moving it to the Supreme Court precisely because there are new justices – trying to suggest that this is somehow shocking, illegitimate, or illegal. When it’s none of those things.
“Will this institution survive the stench that this creates in the public perception that the Constitution and its reading are just political acts? I don’t see how it is possible,” he said.
Why does nobody ever talk about Colbert’s tendency to espouse dangerously extreme ideas? The Supreme Court is a foundation of the American judicial system – and their rulings, when made by constitutionalist judges, are based on what is constitutional and legal.
Does Colbert not respect the law?
“Five of the nine justices were appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote; the last three confirmed by a Republican Senate who now represents 41 million fewer Americans than the Democrats. In fact, Republican senators haven’t represented a majority of the U.S. population since 1996,” he said.
Well, no, America is not a democracy. America is a constitutional Republic.
Democracy is mob rule, and the American system is designed to represent as diverse a range of people all over the country.
What does Stephen Colbert have against the legal system, and the representation of diverse people?
