Kids are getting in way too much trouble these days…
At a glance:
- Minneapolis police arrested six children, aged 11 to 14, after three armed robberies and two vehicle crashes.
- Police pursued suspects on Interstate 94, ending in crashes and the arrest of the juveniles.
- Police Chief Brian O’Hara expressed frustration over the increasing involvement of young children in criminal activity.
Minneapolis police arrested six juveniles, ages 11 to 14, following a spree of three armed robberies and two car crashes on Interstate 94 on Tuesday. According to KMSP-TV, the arrests occurred after a police chase that followed reports of reckless driving and fleeing suspects.
The incidents began around 11:30 a.m. when police responded to an armed robbery on the 5100 block of 41st Avenue South, followed shortly by a second armed robbery on Bloomington Avenue. During the second robbery, shots were fired at the victim, but fortunately, no one was injured. A third robbery occurred later at 24th Street and Pleasant Avenue.
Police activated their “crime pattern response protocol” due to the similarities between the robberies. Law enforcement, including the Minneapolis Police Department, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol, flooded the area in search of the suspects. Eventually, one of the stolen vehicles was spotted on I-94, leading to a police pursuit and a crash near Cedar Avenue.

The suspects fled the scene on foot but were quickly apprehended by law enforcement. Another stolen vehicle was involved in a second crash nearby, leading to more suspects attempting to escape on foot, though they were also captured.
In total, six children were arrested: three males aged 11, 12, and 13, and three females aged 12 and 14. The juveniles were taken to hospitals for evaluation due to non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crashes. One of the 12-year-old boys had multiple prior contacts with police, while the others had no or limited prior criminal records.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara expressed concern over the rising trend of young children being involved in serious crimes. “The fact that I see this activity continuing with children so young — despite all our efforts — is incredibly frustrating and highlights the urgent need for action,” O’Hara said, praising law enforcement for their swift response in preventing further harm.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing the children’s involvement in the armed robberies and any other potential criminal activity.
By the way, somebody pointed out on Twitter how these boys were arrested in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, where Governor Tim Walz shut down inner-city schools for almost two years.

Could that have something to do with it?
