Rudy Giuliani Confirms He Is Facing A Criminal Investigation

( Lawyers for former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani told the New York Times on Monday that their client was informed that he is being investigated in Georgia for allegedly attempting to overturn the state’s 2020 election on behalf of former President Trump.

Attorney Robert Costello was initially told that his client would be a material witness in the Georgia investigation but later learned that Giuliani isn’t a witness but a target.

On Monday, Giuliani told radio host John Catsimatidis that he is not backing down. Calling the situation in Atlanta a “disaster,” Guiliani said the city may be “one of the three or four most crooked cities” in the country.

He described Atlanta as a “Democrat dictatorship” where “every other mayor” ends up in jail.

On Wednesday, Giuliani was in an Atlanta courtroom testifying for over six hours before the special grand jury that is investigating whether former President Trump and his allies illegally attempted to overturn the Georgia election results in 2020.

When he arrived at the courthouse, Giuliani refused to answer questions from reporters, telling them that grand juries are secret.

Fulton County Superior court Judge Robert McBurney, who is overseeing the special grand jury, last week ordered Guiliani to appear in person. His lawyers tried to delay Guiliani’s grand jury appearance, claiming he was unable to fly after undergoing surgery last month to have two heart stents installed. But McBurney refused, ordering Giuliani to Atlanta by car or train if he has to.

In an interview on Newsmax before his grand jury testimony, Giuliani said as Trump’s lawyer, his statements were either privileged or were made on behalf of his client. He said if we start turning lawyers who are defending their clients into defendants themselves, “we’re starting to live in a fascist state.”

A total of 17 people have been named as targets in the ongoing probe that was launched in March 2021 by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Giuliani is the highest-profile name ensnared in the investigation.
