Death threats against a Republican Congressman have forced him to cancel a public event after he refused to use female pronouns for a transgender colleague. Leftists cannot control their anger – and they’re angry about a Congressman using the correct word to address somebody.
At a glance:
- Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) received death threats after referring to Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) as “mister” during a House hearing
- Self was forced to cancel a constituent meet-up event due to safety concerns
- The incident occurred during a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing
- Self defended his actions by citing Trump-era policy recognizing only two biological sexes
- McBride responded by accusing Republicans of being “obsessed with culture war issues”
Republican Congressman Faces Violent Threats After Pronoun Dispute
Texas Republican Rep. Keith Self has become the latest target of far-left intimidation tactics after he referred to transgender Democrat Rep. Sarah McBride of Delaware as “mister” during a congressional hearing. The Congressman has received multiple death threats so severe that authorities are now investigating them.
Self was forced to cancel a scheduled constituent event called “Koffee with Keith” in Greenville, Texas, citing concerns for the safety of attendees. The decision came after his office received numerous threats following the hearing incident.
Heated Exchange Erupts Over Gender Identity in Congress
The controversy began during a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing when Self addressed McBride as “Mr. McBride.” This prompted an immediate and heated reaction from Democrat Rep. Bill Keating of Massachusetts.
Keating’s outburst led to the abrupt adjournment of the hearing, further escalating tensions between the two parties. Self later defended his position by referencing an executive order issued by President Donald Trump that recognized only two sexes: male and female.
“In life as in war, there are times to engage and times to disengage. In recent days, the rhetoric from the left has turned vile and hateful. My office received multiple death threats and threats of violence — several of which are currently being investigated by authorities,” Self said in a message to constituents.
“Rather than place constituents, their families, and their property in harm’s way, I’ve decided to err on the side of caution and postpone Saturday’s Koffee with Keith in Greenville, Texas. I look forward to re-engaging with constituents again very soon. God bless, Keith Self,” the Congressman added.
Democrats Deflect While Congressman Faces Serious Threats
McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress, responded to the incident by attempting to shift focus away from the death threats against Self. Instead of condemning the violent threats, McBride criticized Republicans for what was characterized as an obsession with cultural issues.
“I appear to live rent-free in the minds of some of my Republican colleagues. I wish that they would spend even a fraction of the time that they spend thinking about me, thinking about how to lower the costs on American families, figuring out how to actually make government work better. The Republican Party is obsessed with culture war issues. It is weird, and it is bizarre,” McBride stated.
Weird? McBride is calling Republicans weirds? We believe this is known as “gaslighting.”
We’re just thankful that the Congressman is safe. For now, anyway.
