The world is in turmoil. War continues to rage in Ukraine between Russia and the small eastern European nation which is desperately holding on in a fight that it appears it cannot win. Recently, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dealt with increased opposition from Congressional and Political leaders in the United States for increased military funding in the conflict as public support for the war has wavered significantly. The nation has been a battleground for over two years, and the Americans have spent billions of dollars on the conflict supporting the Ukrainians. Casualties have mounted, and hundreds of thousands have been killed or wounded. Zelenskyy recently alleged that the west could be doing more to support the war.
The argument could be certainly made that the western power bloc is weakening. Nations like Iran, Russia and China appear increasingly emboldened and powerful on the world stage. The communist Chinese nation appears to the biggest threat to the western power balance in the present, and the country has experienced a strong economic surge in manufacturing and technology sectors. Additionally, the nation’s military appears to be growing more powerful with each and every day, worrying many American leaders who feel that the country could be on track to surpass America as the leading world power.
China is a ruthless nation, and the communist party has committed many atrocities. Dating back to the days of Mao Zedong, millions of Chinese individuals have been killed advertently or inadvertently by the regime, with millions perishing in famines in the mid 20th century brought about by communist economics. Recently, the country has come under fire again for allegedly committing an “ethnic cleansing” of populations of Tibetan Monks. Organized religion has been largely outlawed in the country, and these monks with centuries old cultural practices have been a “problem” for the regime. Hundreds of thousands of Tibetans have been physically displaced over the last several years.
