(PatrioticPost.Com)- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News last month that the federal government was exploring the possibility that the Chinese coronavirus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Last week, Pompeo confirmed that following investigations, there is now “enormous evidence” that the coronavirus originated in that exact lab.
During an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” Pompeo explained that it is becoming a consensus that the virus didn’t originate in a wet market, as originally explained.
Martha Raddatz referenced the general belief among the U.S. intelligence community that China concealed information about the virus, and asked if there will be a retaliation to China’s efforts to hoard international supplies of masks.
“Martha, you’ve got the facts just about right,” he responded. “We can confirm that the Chinese Communist Party did all that it could to make sure that the world didn’t learn in a timely fashion about what was taking place.”
Pompeo said there is a lot of evidence to prove it, and much of it is already public. He also explained how the government understands that journalists have been kicked out of China, that whistleblowers in China were silenced, and that the Chinese Communist Party engaged in a “disinformation effort.”
Raddatz then moved onto the origins of the virus, asking, “Do you believe that it was man-made or genetically modified?”
“Look, the best experts so far seem to think it was man-made,” Pompeo responded. “I have no reason to disbelieve that at this point.”
Probing further, Raddatz asked whether there was any evidence that the virus came from a lab in Wuhan, to which Pompeo responded, “Martha, there’s enormous evidence that that’s where this began.”
“We’ve said from the beginning that this was a virus that originated in Wuhan, China. We took a lot of grief for that from the outset. But I think the whole world can see now.”
Pompeo reminded viewers that China has a “history of infecting the world” and that they “have a history of running substandard laboratories.”
“These are not the first times that we’ve had a world exposed to viruses as a result of failures in a Chinese lab,” he added.
So next time someone tells you that believing the virus came from a lab in China, remind them that the U.S. government already understands that this is the most likely case.
