According to a report, former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters spoke out against “the Israeli lobby” at a performance in London.
The artist informed the O2 audience that the lobby was trying to “cancel” him.
Waters, 79, has been outspoken in his criticism of Israel’s leadership and in his backing of the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign spearheaded by Palestinians to persuade Israel to pull out from occupied regions where Palestinians want statehood.
After performing in Berlin last month while dressed as a Nazi, Waters was subsequently investigated by German authorities. In response, the U.S. State Department said the Berlin exhibition included content that is exceptionally objectionable to Jewish individuals and trivializes the Holocaust.
A written statement from the State Department said that the artist at issue has an extensive history of using antisemitism to disparage Jewish people.
Waters remarked the attempt to “cancel” him “hurts.”
Waters said they had performed 80 shows where our main focus was to express their affection for others. He expressed anger towards the Israeli lobby. They were fabricating information on the orders of superiors from the Foreign Office in Tel Aviv, Israel.
StopAntisemitism commented on Waters’ recent remarks and stage outfits. The executive director, Liora Rez, stated that Roger Waters engaged in antisemitic Jewish power tropes by referring to the “Israeli lobby” attempting to ‘cancel’ him. He disguised his hatred of Jews as anti-Zionism during his speech, but in a recent interview, he mentioned the “Jewish lobby” and advocated for the dismantling of Israel.
According to a report, Roger Waters criticized President Donald Trump in 2020, calling him a mass murderer and a tyrant. He also stated that Trump’s supporters have made the United States a hell. He also called Biden a weak slimeball and unappealing.
Waters expressed his support for Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and conveyed disappointment that the American people did not choose him as their representative.
