(PatrioticPost.com)- Meghan Markle never really did express an interest in fulfilling the duties that come with being a British royal.
And now, the disgraced wife of British Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is accused of using her royal title to meddle in American politics – something that British royals are constitutionally blocked from engaging in.
The Daily Mail reports that Markle is adopting a “ruthless streak” and even the “tactics of an aspiring politician” to use her title – which she technically still has, even though she abandoned the United Kingdom and her official duties – to lobby senior figures in Washington, D.C.
Markle is understood to be trying to influence President Joe Biden’s plan for new parental and sick leave legislation. The Mail reports that Markle published a 1,000-word letter on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s headed paper, calling for the United States to do more for people who need time off work for parenting purposes.
The Duchess of Sussex reportedly claimed that she sent the letter as an “engaged citizen,” a “parent” and a “mom” – but how can anybody ignore the fact that she is still technically a Royal, and it was printed under her official letterhead?
The letter, which was sent directly to controversial House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as well as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, made reference to the American economic systems and claimed they are “past their expiration date.”
That’s a politically charged statement that British royals are not supposed to make.
In another part of the letter, she claimed that Americans are being forced to shortchange themselves.
And while Markle is certainly an American citizen and has the right to write letters like these, her title is hard to ignore – and the fact it comes from her means that Pelosi and Schumer are far more likely to read it and take it seriously.
How isn’t this an abuse of her title?
Perhaps the Queen of England should consider withdrawing it…
