In response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and Georgia, the Republican National Committee (RNC) is taking steps to ensure that voters in these critical battleground states can still access the polls ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election. Lara Trump, co-chair of the RNC, discussed the ongoing efforts during an appearance on Newsmax’s “Finnerty” show, emphasizing that while recovery efforts are ongoing, voter participation remains a top priority for the committee.
“This has been a terrible situation, and those are two states that Donald Trump has to win,” Lara Trump said, referencing her father-in-law’s presidential campaign. “People are still trying to get back on their feet there, especially in western North Carolina. But with the election just three weeks away, we have to think about how we are going to get people out to vote.”
The RNC has been working closely with state legislators and local authorities to address the challenges posed by the hurricane. Among the measures proposed by the RNC are provisions to allow displaced individuals to vote in the counties where they are temporarily residing, as well as plans to construct new temporary voting structures in areas where polling locations were damaged or destroyed.
According to Trump, the North Carolina state legislature met last week, where the RNC presented a ten-point bulletin of recommendations to help voters in hard-hit areas. “The great news is they agreed with us, and they said, ‘yes, we are going to comply with all of these things,’” Trump explained.
In addition to legislative solutions, the RNC is seeking volunteers to assist with efforts on the ground. They are encouraging individuals to sign up on the RNC’s hurricane assistance website to help ensure voters have access to the polls. The RNC is also exploring options to provide transportation for those in need, including buses, vans, and individual vehicles to get people to polling locations.

“We’re going to do everything we legally can to help these people vote,” Lara Trump said. “It’s so vital. We cannot afford to have anyone sit out in North Carolina, Georgia, or anywhere across this country.”
With the Nov. 5 election looming, the RNC’s efforts in these two key states are critical, as both North Carolina and Georgia are expected to play significant roles in determining the outcome of the election.
