Kamala Harris Staffer Quits Over Alleged “Bullying”

(PatrioticPost.com)- Another aide to Vice President Kamala Harris is leaving, and now, there are reports of dysfunction and turmoil coming out of her office.

The most recent staffer to leave her side is Vincent Evans, who served as the deputy director of public engagement and intergovernmental affairs. He decided to leave his role serving the vice president to take on a new role on Capitol Hill.

He’ll be joining the Congressional Black Caucus, which is an advocacy group for minorities throughout the country. It’s chaired by Ohio Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty.

In a statement released to CNBC, Evans said:

“I am deeply honored to be named the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus. I started my career in Washington working for a member of the CBC, so I know firsthand the tremendous leadership and impact this caucus has in Congress and across the country.”

Sources who are close to Evans said to CNBC that he remains on good terms with the vice president. They added his resignation wasn’t linked to any of the previous departures from Harris’ staff.

Still, scathing reports came out of the vice president’s office recently. One reported that Harris is a “bully” to her staff, and that she has a management style that can be described as “soul-destroying.”

The sources cited in that report say Harris is the “common denominator” behind all of the recent staffers leaving her office. One of her former aides, Gil Duran, told the Washington Post that the “destructive patterns” Harris exhibited were the reasons why Symone Sanders, the VP’s spokesperson, and Ashley Etienne, her communications director, left recently.

As Duran said:

“Who are the next talented people you’re going to bring in and burn through and then have [them] pretend they’re retiring for positive reasons? One of the things we’ve said in our little text groups among each other is what is the common denominator through all this, and it’s her.”

One of the things that Duran pointed out that Harris does is fail to read any briefing materials. Then, when she finds herself unprepared for appearances, she lashes out at the people on her staff.

He explained:

“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work. With Kamala, you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So, you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully, and it’s not really clear why.”

In addition to those three people, Peter Velz, Harris’ former director of press operations, also departed her office recently.

Despite this, the White House tried to back the moves as “natural.” In fact, press secretary Jen Psaki said all the departures are “a very positive thing.” At a recent press briefing, she said:

“Working in the first year of a White House is exciting and rewarding, but it’s also grueling and exhausting. If you look at past precedent, it’s natural for staffers who have thrown their heart and soul into a job to be ready to move on to a new challenge after a few years, and that is applicable to many of these individuals.”
