Hamas has shown its true colors after brutally torturing and killing a 22-year-old Palestinian who dared to speak out against their tyrannical rule. The shocking execution of protest leader Oday Nasser Al Rabay has ignited unprecedented demonstrations across Gaza, revealing cracks in the terror group’s iron grip on the embattled territory.
At a glance:
• Hamas tortured and executed 22-year-old Palestinian Oday Nasser Al Rabay for leading anti-Hamas protests in Gaza
• Thousands of Palestinians have taken to the streets in northern Gaza chanting “Hamas out!” in rare public displays of defiance
• Protesters are demanding an end to both Hamas rule and the 17-month conflict with Israel that has claimed over 50,000 Palestinian lives
• Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has warned of increased pressure on Hamas if they don’t release the remaining 59 hostages
• The protests represent a significant turning point as Gazans increasingly blame Hamas for their suffering rather than just Israel
Brutal Execution Sparks Outrage
The body of Oday Nasser Al Rabay was discovered outside his family’s residence after he was reportedly tortured and executed by Hamas militants. His crime was organizing demonstrations against the terror group that has maintained an iron grip on Gaza since violently seizing power in 2006.
A massive funeral procession followed, with mourners openly chanting “Hamas out!” in a remarkable display of defiance rarely seen in the tightly controlled enclave. The brutality of his killing has seemingly broken a dam of silence, unleashing a wave of anti-Hamas sentiment that had been simmering beneath the surface.
Growing Discontent With Hamas Rule
Thousands of Palestinians have joined protests in multiple locations across northern Gaza, including Beit Lahiya and Gaza City. In scenes that would have been unthinkable just months ago, men were recorded chanting “Out, out out! Hamas get out!” while others demanded “the people want the fall of Hamas.”
The frustration stems not only from Hamas’s brutal crackdown on dissent but also from the group’s refusal to agree to terms that might end the devastating 17-month conflict. Despite over 50,000 Palestinian deaths according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Hamas leadership continues to reject deals that would return the remaining 59 Israeli hostages in exchange for a ceasefire.
Israel Continues Precision Strikes Against Hamas Leaders
While Palestinians increasingly turn against Hamas, Israel has continued its targeted campaign against the terror group’s leadership. An Israeli airstrike on Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza killed senior Hamas official Ismail Barhoum, marking the fifth political bureau member eliminated since operations resumed.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed Barhoum was the target, citing the use of precise munitions to minimize civilian casualties. The Israeli military has consistently maintained that Hamas deliberately uses civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, as command centers and weapons storage facilities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of increased pressure on Hamas if the remaining hostages aren’t released soon. The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists launched a devastating attack on Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking over 200 hostages back to Gaza.
Hamas continues to demand a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners, terms Israel has rejected as unrealistic. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation deteriorates further as Israel has restricted aid deliveries following Hamas’s seizure of incoming supplies.
