Greene Takes Charge of Foreign Aid Scrutiny
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is spearheading a pivotal hearing that promises to shed light on the controversial topic of U.S. foreign aid spending. As Chair of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE), Greene is set to lead an inquiry into whether American taxpayer dollars are being used to support international agendas that may not align with U.S. interests.
The hearing, provocatively titled “America Last: How Foreign Aid Undermined U.S. Interests Around the World,” aims to expose what Greene and her colleagues view as alarming findings regarding the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This investigation follows significant cuts to USAID operations, which were implemented in line with an Executive Order from President Donald Trump to reevaluate U.S. foreign aid spending.
I’m excited to chair my second @DOGECommittee hearing as we investigate how foreign aid was utilized to undermine American interests around the world.

Criticism of USAID’s Funding Priorities
The Trump administration had previously criticized USAID for allocating funds to initiatives such as diversity, equity, inclusion, electric vehicles, contraception, and LGBTQ+ programs. The subcommittee argues that these expenditures may not align with core U.S. interests and values, raising concerns about the strategic use of American resources abroad.
“What the DOGE team has uncovered with USAID is shocking, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg,” said Greene. “Our DOGE subcommittee hearing will expose the agenda that you’ve been funding and offer solutions to prevent it from ever happening again.”
The hearing will feature testimony from a panel of experts, including a former USAID official, a senior research fellow from The Heritage Foundation, the Managing Editor of The Daily Signal, and the Executive Director of the Middle East Forum. These witnesses are expected to provide insights into the complexities of foreign aid spending and offer recommendations for improvement.
“Foreign aid programs have a sordid record of weaponizing and politicizing taxpayer dollars in the name of foreign assistance to support questionable programs around the world that may not align with U.S. interests,” according to the subcommittee press release.
This hearing represents a significant step in the ongoing debate about the role and effectiveness of U.S. foreign aid. It seeks to address concerns about transparency, accountability, and the strategic alignment of international assistance with American values and foreign policy objectives.
