(PatrioticPost.com)- President Donald Trump has been widely criticized by Republicans in recent weeks for not doing enough to protect statues from violent gangs of Black Lives Matter and Antifa extremists. Now, though, the president has indicated he is willing to take action when Democrat state leaders won’t, having signed an executive order to protect monuments all over the country.
“I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American monuments, Memorials, and Statues – and combating recent Criminal Violence,” President Trump said on Twitter.
I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues – and combatting recent Criminal Violence. Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!

“Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!” he added.
President Trump, surprisingly, didn’t open up the signing ceremony to the press. Nor did he immediately release the text of the order he signed. He did, however, cancel his trip to his private club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to sign the order. It shows a president that is finally waking up to the reality of the situation and listening to his base…a base that is crying out for action to be taken.
On Twitter, he described how he wanted to stay in Washington over the weekend to ensure “LAW & ORDER is enforced.”
“The arsonists, anarchists, looters, and agitators have been largely stopped,” he said. “I am doing what is necessary to keep our communities safe – and these people will be brought to justice!”
President Trump suggested earlier in the week that the executive order would “streamline” existing laws and focus on prosecuting people who are found guilty of committing criminal vandalism. He referenced the Monuments Act, which means those who vandalize or damage monuments face sentences of up to ten years in prison.
“But I think we’re going to consolidate various things,” President Trump said.
He also called on his Republican colleagues to “get tougher.”
“Republicans have to get tougher, and I’m telling them all the time because they’re sitting back,” he claimed. “They want to be politically correct. They think it’s terrible to say something bad,” he told Sean Hannity on Fox News.
Could this be the action Trump’s supporters have been waiting for, or is it too little too late?
