(PatrioticPost.com)- As Democrats push their extreme so-called “voting rights” legislation, which would federalize election laws and strip states of the right to manage their own elections – not to mention make it easier for illegal aliens to cast votes – Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is for some reason remaining open to talking with Democrats about ways in which new laws may be passed.
What is he thinking?
The Hill reports how Senator McConnell’s “decision to open the door this week to reforming an 1887 Electoral College law comes as Democrats are trying to cut a deal with Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema.”
Democrats currently don’t have the votes they need to pass their controversial new law, and moderate Democrats Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin not only oppose the legislation but also won’t budge on their opposition to ending the filibuster. As it stands, Democrats need the vote of every single Democratic senator and the vice president in order to pass legislation via the Budget Reconciliation process.
Some Republicans say that what McConnell is doing is good, and would help outline the process of counting and verifying the Electoral College results – but Democrats are skeptical. Are they concerned that improved legislation would make it harder to certify Electoral College results that come from a fraudulent or mishandled election?
During a recent interview with far-left TV “news” host Rachel Maddow, Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer said that he saw McConnel’s comments as a way of heading off discussions with Sinema and Manchin.
“I think this is a fake…I think it’s a way to try and get the two senators that we have who are not on board to go for something that won’t change the horrible, voracious change in the balance of power that will allow elections to slam things in the directions of Republicans in a dramatic way, in an unfair way,” he said.
What? As it stands, everything favors the Democrats – from mail-in voting to lax voter ID laws. What planet is Schumer on?
