Elton John Sent To Hospital After Fall

Singer Elton John spent the night in the hospital last Sunday as a precaution after falling at his home in the south of France, CBS News reported.

According to a representative for the singer, John was hospitalized as a “precautionary measure,” after he slipped and fell at his home in Nice on Sunday. After check-ups, doctors declared the 76-year-old John “in good health,” and he was discharged Monday morning and returned home, the representative said.

According to the BBC, Elton John, along with his husband David Furnish and their two sons, has been staying at their home in France since he wrapped up his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour in July.

John’s latest tour began in September 2018 but was put on hold for nearly two years, first due to the pandemic lockdowns in 2020 and then by John’s subsequent hip injury in 2021. The tour resumed in 2022.

Before resuming the tour, the singer told “CBS Mornings” that he looked forward to the end of the tour so he could spend more time with his family.

Not long after the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour ended, John testified via video link from Monaco in Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault trial in London.

Last weekend’s fall isn’t the first time Elton John made headlines for health-related problems.

In 2012, while performing at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas, the singer was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he was treated for a serious respiratory infection.

John had to end a February 2020 concert in New Zealand after losing his voice while suffering from walking pneumonia.

His “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour had to be postponed in 2021 so the singer could have surgery for an injured hip.
