(PatrioticPost.com)- Dr. Anthony Fauci, the embattled and controversial head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, effectively begged Americans during a briefing on Tuesday to get the vaccination, citing data related to a new variant of the Chinese VIRUS.
The variant, known as B1.617.2 or the “Delta” variant, is considered to be the “dominant variant” in the United Kingdom. Over there, it’s known as the “Indian” variant, which is somehow not considered racist but “Chinese virus.” It is believed to make up around 60% of new cases in the country.
Dr. Fauci said that the United States currently has “poor” protection from the new variant because many of the millions of Americans who have received the vaccine have yet to receive their second dose. The onus, therefore, is apparently on the people who have yet to take the vaccine to take it and help build herd immunity.
Fauci urged people who have already taken the first dose to go ahead and get the second dose to avoid the Indian variant becoming the dominant variant of the virus in the United States, calling June a “national month of action.”
He underlined President Joe Biden’s intention to achieve 70% vaccination by July 4th, a figure that the United States is already close to. More than 171 million Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine so far, which is around 52% of the population overall.
The Centers for Disease Control confirmed on June 7 that over 139 million Americans are now fully vaccinated, meaning that they are completely immune from the virus.
Combined with the unknown number of people who are already naturally immune from the virus, having already contracted and recovered from the virus, it means the United States is very much close to achieving herd immunity.
