(PatrioticPost.com)- Disney is reportedly planning to cast a drag queen in its upcoming Marvel series “Ironheart” which premieres in the fall of 2023 on the Disney+ streaming service.
According to the Washington Examiner, the reports of this odd casting choice have not been confirmed by Marvel and the drag queen’s name is not listed on the Disney+ website as a member of the cast.
But former RuPaul’s Drag Race performer, Shea Couleé claimed in a recent interview that he will have a recurring role in the series.
Couleé told E! News that he is excited to have the opportunity to “crossover into a much more mainstream avenue and push the needle forward as far as drag is concerned.”
It is odd that Marvel refuses to confirm Couleé’s involvement in the future series. And since Disney can’t shut up about LGBT issues, you would think they’d be crowing from the rooftops about casting a drag queen.
The series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, an inventor who creates suits like the one worn by the Marvel character Iron Man. It is reported that Broadway performers Anthony Ramos and Alden Ehrenreich will be starring in the series as well.
In his interview with E! News, Couleé said he wants to leave his “trademark stamp” on the yet-unknown character he is supposed to play. He said the Marvel people have been “unbelievably open and receptive” to his experience and his “expertise about drag.”
So open and receptive that Marvel won’t even confirm Couleé is in the cast.
