(PatrioticPost.com)- Chris Wallace has already placed himself firmly in the establishment Republican (or even Democrat) camp, but his recent segment with Rep. Jim Banks caused controversy on Sunday when he tried to prompt the Republican Indian congressman to pick a side on the issue of election fraud.
Banks, who is the chairman of the Republican Study Committee and one of the highest-profile members of Congress pushing to (successfully) remove Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming from her position as House GOP Conference Chair, appeared on Fox News Sunday to discuss the ongoing debate.
He criticized Cheney for losing focus on the mission of the Republican Party and hurting their chances to win back a majority in the 2022 midterms.
“I know the belief that I have, that a majority of our conference have, that she has lost focus on the single mission that we have in winning back the majority, to push back against the radical Biden agenda, is the reason that she needs to be replaced,” he said.
Cheney hit the headlines this month when she claimed that anyone talking about the evidence of misconduct and fraud in the last presidential election is pushing a “BIG LIE,” which prompted President Trump to fire back in a series of statements.
Cheney was removed from her GOP leadership position in a vote on Wednesday.
Wallace prompted Banks to answer whether he believes President Joe Biden is a “legitimate president,” an obvious reference to the evidence of fraud in several battleground states – or the lack of evidence in Wallace’s opinion.
“Yes, Joe Biden was elected. He was inaugurated on January 20,” Banks said, attempting to avoid the entire debate.
But Wallace continued to steer towards controversy, further asking, “do you still question whether or not Joe Biden won the election fair and square and got over 270 electoral voters, fair and square?”
You just know that Wallace is trying to bully him, right?
Banks added that he stands by his vote to object to the certification of electoral votes on January 6, and that he also stands by the Texas lawsuit that attempted to stop Biden from being certified the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
“That is where most Republicans in the GOP conference are unified around that single mission and goal and anything that distracts from it will hold us back from doing that,” Banks said.
And then things got heated.
