(PatrioticPost.com)- Disgraced Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who was caught earlier this year breaking her own lockdown rules by getting her hair styled by a hairdresser, capitulated to the far-left mob this week by tearing down a statue of Christopher Columbus in the dead of night.
Just days after 19 police officers in her city were injured and hospitalized defending the statue in Grant Park, Mayor Lightfoot made the executive decision to remove it overnight. No consultation, no discussion, and no apologies to the police officers who were hurt by violent far-left extremists. Just a unilateral decision to capitulate to the mob.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the statue was removed by two cranes at around 2 a.m. on Friday morning. It came after hours of violent protest and confrontations from far-left rioters who were pushing back against police officers defending the statue. Supporters of the statue were standing with the police and receiving pushback from the far-left extremists.
The newspaper reported that it was a “unilateral decision” made by Lightfoot to tear down the statue, in what looks like an attempt to stop the violence.
Ald. Brian Hopkins said that there was set to be a discussion about postponing the removal of the statue, but ultimately Lightfoot went ahead with it anyway.

After the statue was removed, the far-left rioters demonstrated the insatiable nature of their campaign.
“Thank you for the statue, now defund CPD,” the crowd cheered.
They get one thing, now they’re asking for another. Will Lightfoot capitulate to those demands if they get violent enough again?
Lightfoot also recently hit headlines after it was revealed that her city saw 65 shootings in one weekend, with ten killed. Chicago is one of the most dangerous cities in the United States and when President Donald Trump recently announced he would be sending in federal forces to help drive down crime, Lightfoot claimed he was doing it because she was a woman mayor and he’s a misogynist.
