California Man $444 Trader Joe’s Receipt to Feed Children Goes Viral

As Americans fight for survival in President Joe Biden’s economy, one that the administration claims is good, a guy from California spent over $400 at Trader Joe’s to feed his six children for seven and a half days.

The parent posted a video to social media showing a receipt from the Westlake Village, Los Angeles County, retailer.

In the clip, the father explained he was shopping to feed six children in around seven days and fifteen hours. Next, we see the receipt’s bottom, where it states that the total amount was $444.38.

Social media opinions on Trader Joe’s prepared meals vary; some feel strongly that the prices are too high and recommend shoppers visit Aldi instead, while others argue that the store’s products aren’t designed to serve a large number of people cheaply.

Although Trader Joe’s promotes itself as a cost-effective option, it is actually more of an upper-middle-class boutique store specializing in sophisticated cuisine.

Walmart, a much more “blue collar” store, recorded higher sales than expected, suggesting that consumers were stocking up on groceries in response to the sharp spike in the price of fast food.

Stock in Walmart hit an “all-time high Thursday after it beat Wall Street’s quarterly sales and revenue expectations and said it expected its full-year results to be on the high end of, or better than, its previous forecast, thanks to the surge in sales.

In addition, sales at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com increased by 3.8% during the previous quarter. Fast food chains’ sales have been declining recently, including those of McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Some shoppers have noticed that fast food has become more costly while groceries have become more affordable.

McDonald’s introduced a $5 meal offer in June as a response to the growing cost of food under Biden’s administration.

Food costs account for 31% of low-income families’ incomes, compared to 8% for high-income households, making them the worst affected by the recent spike in food prices. According to food banks around the nation, the number of people going hungry has been on the rise dramatically in the last year. This is especially true following the expiry of additional pandemic food cards in February of last year.
