(PatrioticPost.com)- Bill Gates, who held the title of the richest person in the world between 1995 and 2017 – except 2010 and 2013 – didn’t have a prenuptial agreement in place with his wife…and now he’s getting divorced.
On May 3, the Microsoft founder and his wife posted identical statements on their Twitter accounts announcing the end of their relationship. It described how after much thought and work on their relationship, they decided to end their marriage.

“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” they wrote, before adding that they plan to continue working together at the foundation they have managed since 2000.
The fact that the couple plan to continue working together at their foundation could be a sign that things aren’t as bad as they could be…but with Gates’s net worth sitting at around $130.5 billion dollars according to Forbes, his wife Melinda could soon be in for a big windfall.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the biggest private charitable foundation in the world, with the couple spending much of their wealth on global charitable efforts. Gates also recently gave up most of his shares in Microsoft stock, now owning just over 1% of the tech company’s stock.
Business Insider reports how a section in the Gates’s divorce filings asked whether the couple had already signed a prenup, a separation contract, or a community property agreement. They responded in the documents that they had a separation contract, not a prenup, which they asked the court to enforce.
A prenup agreement is signed before a marriage, while a separation agreement is a contract signed by a couple when they decide to live separately or end their marriage.
The contents of the agreement are not yet known, but one thing is for certain…Melinda Gates won’t ever be short of money.
