Attacking George Soros Isn’t About Hate Speech At All

( Florida Senator Marco Rubio was criticized for hate speech after he introduced an amendment to the Democrats’ $749 billion climate and tax bill which would require prosecutors keep violent criminals behind bars rather than let them go as easily as they have been—a trend that has plagued Democrat-run cities around the country.

After shooting the amendment down, Rubio took to Twitter saying that “The Democrats just blocked my effort to try and force Soros-backed prosecutors to put dangerous criminals in jail.” That lit a firestorm when Democrats then accused the senator of being “anti-Semitic.”

According to a Federalist article by David Harsanyi, however, the accusations came from all of the “usual suspects,” that is, the racially centered left who call anyone a “racist” for disagreeing with them. It just so happens, though, that Rubio was stating an “incontestable truth.”

“The Hungarian billionaire has given local anti-incarceration prosecutors tens of millions of dollars,” according to Harsanyi. “Rubio’s accusers could have read about the effort in a 2016 Politico piece, headlined, “George Soros’ quiet overhaul of the U.S. justice system.” The Politico piece calls to attention the fact that Soros has donated in order to “reshape the the American justice system.” In fact, a piece that Soros wrote himself in the Wall Street Journal is titled, “Why I Support Reform Prosecutors.”

Harsanyi also mentions the Democrats going after right wing donors like Koch brothers or the late Sheldon Adelson, who are also Jewish. But Republicans don’t attack Democrats for being “anti-Semitic,” although it is up for debate whether they should grow a spine and play the same game. That Soros seems to be a name Democrats do not like desecrated, it makes one wonder why?

“Soros doesn’t get special dispensation from criticism,” Harsanyi writes. “But when you’re wracked with paranoia, and see fascism behind every proposition you dislike, you tend to become a hysteric.”

Soros reportedly funds anti-Semitic organizations as well, so opposing him would be a “pro-Jewish” position. Soros funds BDS and is the “leading patron of “pro-Israel” front groups in the United States.” Democrats do not actually care about anti-Semitism, only when it is politically convenient to demonize their opponents and show fake solidarity.
