Amber Heard Reacts to News of Ex Seen in Same Country as Her

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, former spouses who were embroiled in a highly publicized defamation trial, were both spotted in Spain recently, though they remain several hours apart. Depp, 61, arrived at the San Sebastian Film Festival to premiere his new film Modi, continuing his comeback after years of legal battles. Meanwhile, Heard, 37, was seen in Madrid with her three-year-old daughter Oonagh Paige.

Depp greeted fans upon arriving in San Sebastian, dressed in a stylish ensemble featuring a burnt red suit coat and a white scarf. During a press conference, Depp seemed to allude to his tumultuous past with Heard without mentioning her by name. He commented on the challenges of an artist’s life, hinting at the media frenzy surrounding their trial by saying, “Maybe yours didn’t turn into a soap opera. I mean, literally, televised.”

Heard, who moved to Spain in late 2022, was spotted in Madrid wearing a light blue blouse and tan skirt as she strolled with her daughter. She expressed contentment with her new life in Spain, telling reporters, “I’m very lucky to be here, and regarding my past, I don’t feel like thinking or talking about it, because I’m happy and in peace.” There have been rumors that Heard has changed her name to Martha Jane Cannary, though this has not been confirmed.

The former couple’s contentious relationship began in 2009 when they met while filming The Rum Diary. They married in 2016 but split after just over a year. Heard filed for divorce, accusing Depp of abuse, while Depp later sued her for defamation. Their legal battles culminated in a high-profile trial, where Depp was awarded $10 million in damages, and Heard received $2 million in a countersuit. Both eventually settled the case in December 2022.

Despite their shared presence in Spain, neither has expressed any interest in revisiting the past, with both focused on moving forward in their respective lives and careers.

Was this just a coincidence?
