(PatrioticPost.com)- More than twenty years ago, the UK’s then-Labor government began increasing the number of foreign migrants it invited into the UK. And in late 2009, a former government advisor blew the whistle on this effort in an op-ed for London’s Evening Standard.
In his op-ed, Andrew Neather, wrote of the Labor government’s strategy, based on flawed job market claims, to flood the UK with migrants.
Neather claimed at the time that the strategy was not about importing much-needed workers; instead, it was the government’s push to “make the UK truly multicultural.”
Neather wasn’t exactly a whistleblower. The purpose of his op-ed was not to expose a plan he opposed, but to offer a defense for the government after many blamed the unfettered migration for the rise in crime and violence. However, in his defense, he revealed that the supposed “far right conspiracy” of demographic replacement wasn’t a conspiracy after all.
He even admitted in his 2009 op-ed that he came away from the planning discussions believing that one intended purpose was the “rub the Right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date.”
The plan was implemented and migration of foreigners into the UK went from 55,000 in 1995 to a staggering 148,000 in 2008.
In 2019 that number skyrocketed to 2.7 million with an additional 2.2 million being given “pre-settled status.”
Does the UK plan have any bearing on the current flood of migrants into the US?
Maybe not directly. However it does reveal that, for the progressive Left, the push to force diversity and demographic changes through mass migration is nothing new.
As of mid-July, more than a million people were apprehended crossing the US southern border. The last time the US had more than a million illegals cross the border in one year was in 2006. And we’re only in July. With five months remaining in 2021, that number could almost double by year’s end.
This isn’t simply an issue of incompetence. Rather it is beginning to look more and more like flooding the country with foreign nationals is entirely by design.
