Cash-Carrying Criminals: Border Patrol’s Organized Crime Bust

While our administration seems content to leave our southern border wide open to anyone with a sad story and a backpack, at least some of our Border Patrol agents are still doing the job we pay them to do. In what can only be described as a rare win in the ongoing border catastrophe, El Paso Sector agents managed to intercept a group of 21 Romanian nationals at the Alamogordo, New Mexico checkpoint who were carrying a suspiciously large amount of cash. And by “suspiciously large,” I mean $175,000 that these folks conveniently “forgot” to mention to authorities. Because who among us hasn’t accidentally misplaced six figures in our carry-on?

“El Paso Sector Border Patrol agents seized $175,000 in cash from a group of 21 Romanian nationals at an interior immigration checkpoint in New Mexico,” says El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar.

The Romanian travelers initially declared $30,000 in currency before agents discovered the additional $145,000 they somehow neglected to mention. I’m sure it was just an oversight – perhaps they’re using a different math system in Romania these days.

What’s even more interesting is that according to El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar, these individuals aren’t just random travelers with an unusual affinity for cash. They’re connected to organized crime. Shocking, I know. Who would have thought that people smuggling large amounts of undeclared currency across borders might be up to something nefarious?

Revolving Door Justice: Criminals Keep Coming Back

In a separate but equally disturbing incident, Border Patrol agents near Santa Teresa, New Mexico arrested a previously deported felon attempting to sneak back into the country. This upstanding individual had already been convicted for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, but apparently America’s hospitality was just too irresistible to stay away. After being deported once, he decided our justice system was more of a suggestion than an actual deterrent. And honestly, given our current administration’s approach to border security, can you blame him?

This drug trafficker will now face prosecution under federal law before being removed from the country again. Let’s all hold our breath to see how long it takes before he makes attempt number three! It’s like a game of Red Rover at this point, except instead of children, it’s convicted felons, and instead of a playground, it’s our sovereign border. But hey, at least we’re making sure no one misuses pronouns or drinks from plastic straws while this is happening, right?

The Menace Multiplies: More Violent Criminals Crossing

If one returning criminal wasn’t enough to make your blood boil, wait until you hear about the second catch of the day. Border Patrol agents also arrested another illegal entrant with a violent history that includes assault on a peace officer. That’s right – someone who already has a record of attacking the very people charged with maintaining public safety thought it would be a good idea to illegally enter a country where he’s explicitly not welcome. The audacity is almost admirable, if it weren’t so dangerous to American citizens and law enforcement officers.

This case perfectly illustrates the ongoing security nightmare at our southern border. While our elected officials spend their time debating which new government handout to implement next, organized crime groups and violent offenders continue exploiting our porous borders with impunity.

The Border Patrol agents who intercepted these criminals deserve our gratitude, but they also deserve a government that actually supports their mission instead of undermining it at every turn. Until we get serious about securing our borders, this dangerous revolving door will continue spinning, with American citizens paying the ultimate price.
